在人工智能时代,创造力正在经历一场重大变革,我们需要重新评估我们在设计中的思维方式。本次工作营探讨建筑项目中的认知过程,强调先进的工具与技术是如何彻底改变我们的设计和建造方法的。我们还将研究人工智能与创新之间的共生关系,展示这些进步如何使我们将想象中的概念变成切实的现实存在。通过亲身动手实际操作,我们将同时深入不断发展的数字虚拟世界与真实工艺的世界,展示人工智能,机器人和混合现实技术如何增强我们创造创新解决方案和塑造未来建筑环境的能力。
工作营总览 Workshop Overall
“金属融合:增强制造和机器人塑形”是一个开创性的工作营,旨在让建筑专业的学生以及从业者沉浸在传统金属制造技术和尖端机器人塑形技术的创新交叉中。在工作营的过程中,参与者将从头到尾深入研究建筑结构创作的变革过程。
"Steel Fusion: Augmented Fabrication and Robotic Sculpting" is a groundbreaking workshop designed to immerse architectural students in the innovative intersection of traditional steel fabrication techniques and cutting-edge robotic sculpting technologies. Over the course of the workshop, participants will delve into the transformative process of creating architectural structures from start to finish.
主结构 – 增强现实建造
Primary Structure - Augmented Fabrication
从钢筋弯曲和焊接开始,学生将掌握建造坚固的初级结构的基本原理,为他们的建筑愿景奠定基础。
Beginning with steel rod bending and welding, students will master the fundamentals of constructing robust primary structures, laying the foundation for their architectural vision.
机器人雕刻和塑形
Robotic Carving and Sculpting
在此之后,他们将探索机器人雕刻和塑形的领域,利用自动化的精度和多功能性切割复杂的泡沫附件,这些附件与主要结构无缝集成,形成他们设计的外壳。此外,学生们将通过应用覆层和/或加固饰面来完善他们的创作,为他们的建筑奇迹增添光滑耐用的饰面。
From there, they will explore the realm of robotic sculpting, harnessing the precision and versatility of automation to carve intricate foam attachments that seamlessly integrate with the primary structure, forming the envelope of their designs. Additionally, students will refine their creations by applying cladding and/or reinforcement finishes, adding a sleek and durable finish to their architectural marvels.

The formal development process will employ a combination of manual modeling and AI techniques. We'll use manual modeling to establish initial formal guidelines and then enhance the details through using AI - diffusion models. The AI-generated images will in turn inspire the further development of 3D models. This iterative process of manual and AI methods will involve multiple iterations, creating a synthetic collaboration between human and machine throughout the entire process.

· Understanding the mixed technology workflow (involving AI, XR, Modeling, Computing…)
· Be more proficient in robotic fabrication processes
· Be more proficient in augmented fabrication processes
· Learning how to use various AI tools such as Chat GPT, Midjourney, Stable Diffusion to help during thinking process
· Learn how to execute a pavilion scale project from design to finish
· Learn how to execute a big project within a big team

· 1:1建造的构筑物
· 6~10分钟项目视频(包括高质量的设计图片、专业照片、全过程、背景研究
· PDF展示+15分钟终审演示(在inDesign中编辑,包括所有高质量的设计图像、视频、专业照片、所有流程、背景研究等)
· 1:1 scale Built Pavilion
· 6~10min Project video (include high quality design images, professional photos, all processes, background research etc.)
· Presentation PDF + 15 mins presentation at the final review (Compiled in inDesign, include all high quality design images, videos, professional photos, all processes, background research etc.)

Note
本次工作营还将包括来自1)Soomeen Hahm(SCI-Arc)、2)Hanjun Kim(AA)和3)Igor Pantic(伦敦大学学院,线上)的3场讲座,介绍不同大学正在进行的研究和设计工作,以及各自大学的入学要求和作品集偏好。
This workshop will also include 3 talks from 1) Soomeen Hahm (SCI-Arc), 2) Hanjun Kim (AA), and 3) Igor Pantic (UCL, Online) to introduce the on-going research and design works in different universities and also their admission requirements and portfolio preferences.
工作营结束将颁发各导师签署的结课证书。
At the end of the workshop, certificates signed by each instructor will be issued.
顺利完成工作营并表现优异的同学,可有机会获得导师的推荐信。
Students who have successfully completed the workshop with good performance may have the opportunity to receive reference letter from the instructors.
建成作品将有机会展览于苏州博物馆(洽谈中)。
The completed work will have the opportunity to be exhibited in Suzhou Museum (under discussion).
