As summer approaches, North Riverfront Park in Springfield is gearing up for the annual Springfield Dragon Boat Festival. This vibrant event is set for July 20, 2024, and will draw participants and spectators from all over to celebrate this traditional water sport.
Highlight
Dragon Boat Races
This year’s festival will feature fierce competition among 16 dragon boat teams, composed of paddlers of various skill levels, with each team consisting of 15 paddlers and 1 drummer. Teams will battle it out on the picturesque river, providing a spectacular display of teamwork and strength.
Cultural Performances
Beyond the thrilling races, the event will also offer a rich array of cultural performances, including traditional Chinese drumming and dance, giving attendees a deeper insight into Asian culture.

Detail Information
Participant Requirements
All crew members must be at least 16 years old.
Each participating team consists of 17 members, including eight men and eight women, one main and one assistant captain, and one drummer (optional). There are 16 paddlers in total, including the captains.
All participants must fill out a personal liability waiver form.
Competition Format
The competition consists of a 200-meter straight-course race.
A fixed rudder system will be used, and all equipment including life jackets will be provided by the organizers.
Each team will compete in three races, with final rankings within their category determined by time.
